David Bermejo-Peláez, Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from the Technical University of Madrid, has an extensive research career spanning 10 years in the development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) algorithms applied to medical data analysis, particularly in medical imaging. His expertise covers various fields, including pulmonary, infectious, and oncohematological diseases. He has worked at prominent research centers internationally (Harvard Medical School, Brigham and Women’s Hospital) and nationally (National Center for Cardiovascular Research). With over 25 scientific articles published and experience as a university lecturer in the field of medical imaging and AI, he has contributed as an expert in World Health Organization (WHO) committees for defining digital health product requirements. For the past 4 years, he has led the Artificial Intelligence team at Spotlab, a startup specializing in research and development of AI products for clinical research and disease diagnosis. He has also participated in fieldwork in various countries, including Mozambique and Morocco.
