Physician Assistant
University of Rochester Medical Center
Gina Fries is a certified physician assistant (PA-C) at University of Rochester Medical Center (URMC) in the Wilmot Cancer Center with over 25 years of experience. She has been involved in the care of patients with cancer for the past 16 years, specializing with patients who have Multiple Myeloma for the past 5 years. During the course of her career Gina has given talks on various topics for Multiple Myeloma at the local, regional and national levels.
Gina provides care for patients with Multiple Myeloma while evaluating patients in clinic and overseeing the infusion center. She participates in the enrollment of patients onto clinical trials, orders chemotherapy and performs procedures including intrathecal administration of chemotherapy and minimal IV sedation bone marrow biopsies. Gina is passionate about empowering patients to be active in their cancer treatment decision making process. She believes this gives patients a better overall quality of life which is especially important for patients with Multiple Myeloma as they have a limited life expectancy and there is no cure.
Outside of work Gina keeps busy with her husband and 17-year-old boy and girl twins, spending many weekends at lacrosse tournaments and dance competitions. In her free time, she enjoys being active outdoors and especially loves camping, hiking, and kayaking.
