Prof Alessandro Gozzetti gained his medical degree in 1993 and hematology fellowship in 1997 from Bologna University, Italy. He completed at the same University a PhD in oncology in 2001. He then worked as research fellow 3 years at University of Chicago at the Molecular Cytogenetic Cancer Center lab led by Dr Janet Rowley and Michelle Le Beau. He gained National Scientific Abilitation as Associate Professor in Hematology in 2013. He is actually Associate Professor of Hematology at the Division of Hematology of University of Siena, Italy. Prof. Gozzetti is Director of the Multiple Myeloma program , CLL program and Hairy cell program at the Hematology division in Siena Hospital, University of SIena. He participated in several multiple myeloma trials as PI and was in the writing committee in many of them. He led a national research on CNS myeloma that was published in Cancer. He is interested in minimal residual disease (MRD) in myeloma and other hematological diseases as a tool to predict survival ion clinical trials.
He is leading a multicenter trial as PI in Multiple Myeloma on Daratumumab as consolidation therapy in patients achieving at least a VGPR but MRD positive by multi flow cytometry of next-generation.
He is within the founders of the Multiple Myeloma Tuscan Group (RTM) and member of the International Myeloma Working Group since 2016.
His Areas of interest are: Multiple Myeloma; Chronic lymphoproliferative disorders; hematological molecular cytogenetics.
He is Member of Italian Society of Hematology (SIE) and Italian Society of Experimental Hematology (SIES), European Hematology Association (EHA), International Myeloma Society (IMS), Hairy Cell Leukemia Consortium
He published as author or coauthor over 200 papers in peer -reviewed Journals and over 300 abstracts and 3 book chapters.
