AMPATH Haemato-Oncology-Kenya, Kenya
My name is Lorraine Yvette, and I am currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Project Planning and Management. I have a background in Community Development and Social Work, which has equipped me with the necessary skills and knowledge to contribute effectively to various sectors. Presently, I am a social worker at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH), specifically within the AMPATH Hematology and Oncology department under the Multiple Myeloma Programme.
My professional profile specializes in community development and social work, particularly within the medical space. I have been actively involved in agricultural initiatives, social security and services, and child development support. These experiences have allowed me to interact and collaborate with several esteemed institutions, including the Ministry of Health, Kenya Red Cross, and AMPATH. Through these collaborations, I have gained invaluable insights and practical experience in addressing the needs of diverse communities.
My work in the medical field has been particularly fulfilling, as it has enabled me to support individuals facing significant health challenges. By working closely with patients and their families, I strive to provide holistic care that addresses not only their medical needs but also their social and emotional well-being. My role involves advocating for patients, ensuring they receive the necessary support and resources to lead fulfilling lives despite their medical conditions.
My career objective is to improve the lives of those who experience medical and socioeconomic difficulties by being a bold advocate for their inclusion and consideration. I am committed to ensuring that these individuals have access to the support and resources they need to lead normal and holistic lives. My passion for social work and community development drives me to continuously seek innovative solutions and strategies to enhance the well-being of the communities I serve.
