Jacqui is a registered nurse with 30 years experience in the field of haematology. She currently works as a haematology NP at Gosford & Wyong Hospitals and Central Coast Haematology. Jacqui is a committee member of the Haematology Society of Australia and New Zealand (HSANZ) nurses group and Myeloma special practice network. Her research experience includes sub-investigator on a number of industry sponsored and investigator-initiated myeloma clinical trials. She teaches on the postgraduate haematology programs at University of Sydney in addition to local education programs and patient groups. She is the prinicipal investigator on self-administration of bortezomib study (SLAM-B) and site lead investigator of the SSQ-MM steroid symptom questionnaire study. She co-authors best practice papers related to new therapies in myeloma within the Australian setting. She has developed a number of programs and models of care over the last 20 years that have transitioned care of haematology patients from the inpatient unit to the outpatient setting. She has established nurse-led models of care that centre on emergency department and hospital avoidance in addition to teaching patients and carers to self-administer chemotherapy. She is a committed advocate of pateint self-management within a supportive care framework and to the promotion of well-being as a fundamental cornerstone of cancer care.
