Dr. Laura Joiner, PharmD, BCOP is a multiple myeloma pharmacist at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). She specializes in managing medication for patients with multiple myeloma, focusing on enhancing treatment plans and patient education.
Dr. Joiner earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the McWhorter School of Pharmacy at Samford University in 2013 and completed her PGY-1 training at Vital Care of Meridian. She is board-certified in oncology pharmacy (BCOP) and has dedicated her career to the field of oncology.
At UAB, Dr. Joiner works with healthcare providers in the Multiple Myeloma program to create effective treatment plans. She also provides patient-centered education to help multiple myeloma patients understand their condition and participate actively in their own healthcare decisions. Her role includes both direct patient care and contributions to research and professional education.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Joiner is an active member of the Hematology/Oncology Pharmacy Association (HOPA), the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), and the International Myeloma Society (IMS). She is also committed to mentoring other pharmacists by precepting pharmacy students and residents at UAB, and advancing the practice of oncology pharmacy.
