My name is Alexandros Gkiokas, and I was born in Alexandroupolis, Northern Greece. I graduated from medicine as a valedictorian in 2015, and for the following two years I did my Msc studies in Global Health and Infectious Diseases. My experiences include, a rural service in a remote mountain area, observerships in Thailand and USA, and a 2-year experience as an internal medicine resident in Evangelismos Hospital, the largest hospital in Greece. Since 2020, I am an hematology resident In Laikon General Hospital, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. I am currently a Phd candidate, focusing on the role of macrophages in plasmacytic and lymphoplasmacytic disorders. My aspirations are to gain a wide range of experiences in clinical hematology and participate in clinical research.
Medicine is an art. It is a profession that incorporates science with the art of being a doctor, and I hope by combining active clinical medicine and research, I will become an experienced physician with optimal scientific knowledge.
