Chantelle Hughes, RN, MNursSci, Senior Research Nurse, University College London Hospital
Chantelle Hughes is a Senior Research Nurse at University College London Hospital, bringing over 10 years of experience in haematology. She has dedicated 5 years to clinical trials and spent 2 years as a clinical nurse specialist for patients receiving CAR T cell therapy when it was newly available in the NHS. She is now working as a lead nurse in a national quality improvement initiative and has recently joined the National Institute for Health and Care Research's Nursing and Midwifery Inclusion working group.
Currently, Chantelle focuses on improving access to clinical trials and novel therapies. At IMS 2024, she will present her poster, "Are Participants of Myeloma Trials Representative of the Patient Population? Audit Data from a Large Haematology Centre in the UK." This study investigates demographic differences between myeloma patients treated in clinical trials and those receiving standard treatments.
Chantelle aims to identify patient groups less likely to access trials and novel therapies and work towards enhancing health equity. She looks forward to connecting with other professionals to gain insights and feedback on promoting equity in clinical trials.
